Romulan on the bridge

Mission: The Departure
Location: Captain Wells' quarters

Nerex knew he couldn't keep avoiding everyone, especially not the Captain. At some point he would have to at least present himself. He hoped Captain Wells wasn't going to make this any weirder than it needed to be. He had been given the heads up by a random Vulcan crewman to try the Captain's quarters rather than his ready room. Nerex arrived at the quarters and rang the chime.

"Please, come in" came a voice from the room."

Nerex took a deep breath, and then walked in.

"Ahh, Lt. Nerex, I was just looking at your record today. It is nice to meet you. Please come over here and sit down" said the Captain.

Nerex immediately relaxed a little, thanks to the Captain's pleasant demeanor. He moved quickly to the chair and sat down, although he still moved and sat in a manner that could be described as stiff. "Thank you, Captain. Is it satisfactory?"

"So, are you ready for our adventure? I think it will be a good mission and a great time. We will see part of the galaxy that no one has been to in years--and we will most likely meet new people. What do you think about that" asked the Captain?

It would be a welcome change of pace to Nerex. Certainly better than constantly being in contact with Humans, Klingons, and other Romulans. "It sounds exciting. Back to Starfleet's roots of exploration."

Wells continued,

"We will be leaving first thing tomorrow. I suggest that you get some rest--maybe beam down to earth while you have a chance."

Nerex didn't think he would enjoy a visit to Earth, but said diplomatically, "I just might do that, thank you."

"Well, if there is nothing else, you are dismissed" exclaimed the Captain.
